This Halite hails from the ancient Searles Lake basin in Trona, California—a desert town with a surprisingly big reputation in the mineral world.  Today, it's a dry lake bed in the Mojave Desert, but thousands of years ago, it held mineral-rich waters that helped create the remarkable crystals and deposits the area is famous for today.
